Fragging SPS

How do you frag acros, cyphastreas, etc. any type of SPS. I really need to know anything or everything on fragging coral. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I usually bone cutter on them

Bone cutters and glue is all you will ever need.

You don't want to squeeze the coral to cut, but rather twist. I place the bone cutters into a firm position and turn the frags plug in order to cut.

I'm a bone cutter fragger. The open sticks are easy to cut and get the bone cutter in there. Others (one that comes to mind is acropora, pink lemonade) are difficult because of the tight growth. One cut results in ten little pieces being broken off.

If you get real serious, you can get a fragging saw....a specialized wet bandsaw designed to cut frags.

Now there is one more way that I saw for the first time this past weekend....at a local club meeting. The host of the meeting removed a large colony and placed it in a wash tub. Using a hammer and screwdriver, he smashed it to bits, and handed out pieces to the folks who were there. :eek: This is true....got a nice blue milli out of it. Thank you Herbie!
