If two banggais are right next to each other 90% of the time, just chilling, is that a good indication of male-female pair?
When they first arrived early summer, one was clearly dominant to the other. Occasionally bullied to the point the second was forced to hide. Started to think perhaps same sexes. The bullying ceased in almost a smooth slope over a month. Lately once they gained some size(no idea of age- they were to my guess "small-midjuvenile"sized at purchase), they've taken up to being right next to each other almost constantly. Frequent lining up one in front of other and sort of a dancing on the daily. It's not exactly the same as the full on courtship that precedes egg laying. More like a twitch/shake. Haven't seen the 'shimmying' the females do. Both very excited during those events. Both sometimes also puff up the mouths to make that bull dog face, one more often than the other though.
Tried the vent sexing, including feeding until they were full. It's hard to get a clear view. Early on it seemed A had two tubes, B with one. However lately, it seems to have switched? B with two- a lump in front of a tube, only been able to see a tube on A. (B has a wonky fin, making it easy to tell them apart)
