A few minutes ago I put a cube of frozen squid in my tank; my foxface is still hiding from it.

Yes indeed. I just found it amusing that this time he's afraid of his own dinner. He plucked up the courage to feed eventually. He's a good shape and usually feeds well.

Your fish may have smelled the squid and sensed that squid is an active predator of fish. I have caught squid at night with artificial bait.
