I really want a frogfish and I have been cycling a 40 breeder to keep it in as a species tank. I have a few questions as I continue my research.
1. I got offered a birdsnest coral for free and I love birdsnests, can froggies generally live in an lps reef? Would love nems too, rockflower or bubbletip.
2. Ive only kept nano reefs before now, how do I get a sense of the amount of powerheads I need in a tank that size? I only have one right now
3. What type of frogfish should I get? Easierrr and cheapishhh is ideal. Petco can only get wartskins and “coloured” anglers so any others I would have to order online and pay double in shipping.
4. Should I acclimate my feeders to salt before feeding to ensure they dont kaput before being consumed?
Also I know it probably seems like I dont know what I’m doing but I am being helped by a more experienced hobbyist, be honest if this is unreasonable cause like lowkey tobies, looked at seahorses too, did pipefish in the past but failed
5. If they eat one of my blue legs will the shells hurt them? I have like 2 in there still.

I have 4 blue eye hermit crabs in my tank, and my frogfish leaves them alone and barely recognizes that they exist. I would also say no to the Nems because frogfish are kinda dumb and could easily get stung by the anemone if they perch next to it. I would also say maybe for the sps, but from my experience I can definitely say that frogfish prefer lower flow. Also, the species you should get is up to you, all the smaller anglers are very similar, it just depends on what species you want more. Also, I don’t acclimate my feeders to salt when I put them in, and they always get eaten.
