Hey i’m still fairly new to the hobby and I just picked up my first coral the other day. I followed the instructions on the RxCoral bottle to help with fungal and bacteria infections. However, when I started the treatment the coral turned brown instantly. Only a few pieces came off during the treatment. The only thing I found online was brown jelly disease. Any help would be great!

Could just be the lighting, the flesh looks healthy. If it smells rotten it could be bjd, you can smell it before you see it

I’ll have to smell it to see. I don’t smell anything currently though. This is a picture of when I was dipping it if it helps.

This is when I first put it in after the dip.

That’s good to hear. The brown tissue just concerned me some. But if that’s normal that’s a relief. Thank you!

Those pictures look pretty normal during/after dip and the coral looks healthy in the first pic.

Yup as far as i can see it is fine. FYI brown jelly disease wont really turn the tissue brown like in that picture. It more like brown stringy wisps coming out of coral or the flesh having jelly like goo in it.

I lost a Trachyphyllia to brown jelly disease. It only took a day of infection before it was beyond the point of no return
