Couple of updates, the eel ate last night so that’s good news. Also I wanted to share this pic. Only fellow saltwater people can understand how exciting this is. I started with dry white rock. I finally got some coraline on my overflow but that’s it. This morning I noticed this. Finally some purple on my rock.

So has I'm waiting on these nice new acros I learned some very valuable info about my tank. I have a single acro at the moment, a green slimer. It's been struggling but I've been investigating and knew I could figure it out. Finally I have, a local reefer got a par meter and let me use it. It reveled so much about the settings on my lights. The highest light spot in my tank was around 60 par at peak of the day. I couldn't believe it was that low. I played with the setting and that same spot is now at 250 at peak time of day. I turned the lights back down and will spend a few weeks upping the intensity. I'm so excited to figure this out. Here is a picture of the current settings at peak and what they will be when I'm done upping the intensity.

So when I decided to starting uping the light intensity I knew I couldn't do it all at once. I wanted the first jump to be the biggest just to help out some of the struggling corals. Well the first jump happen and I ended up loosing one and damaging a couple more. The ones damaged were a birds nest and a monti, I thought they were goners but are coming back at a steady paste. The monti is actually looking better than it has in a long time. The coral that made me really question my lighting was my green slimer. It got down to maybe two or three polyps showing and one branch gone. I'm happy to say it is on a steady recovery with the lighting change and I think in another couple of weeks it should be all most all the way back. Made me pretty excited to see it. Also on the new pieces I have decided to take pictures once a week to watch progress and see how its going. I took these pictures about 6 days apart and I know there wont be much of anything. But you can tell how much happier they both look and on these two there is some progression in the encrusting already. A tiny bit but enough to make me smile from ear to ear.

Sorry to hear about the coral troubles. It sounds like even small light changes can have a big impact. Glad some are bouncing back though!
Thanks, when it was all said and done I really only lost one. Overall it’s a positive impact and things are doing good

So thought I'd update this, but without pictures. I'm fighting a cyno problem and so pictures are kind of ugly right now. The cyno isn't horrible but it's not getting any better. As far as coral goes, it's doing great. My new acro frags are already encrusting their plugs and I have two of them that probably will in another week or so. If I can get the cyno under control this tank will be in great shape.

Haven't updated in a long time, been struggling with some hair algae. Tank is healthy and coral seem to be doing better after the light struggles and some other stuff. Here are some new additions and a random pic of my blenny sleeping in the zoa rock.

Just updating with a full tank shot and some random pics of coral. I moved my two trachy next to each other. Seems the general opinion is they will be fine next to each other. But I’ll watch it for a while.

Don’t ever fret about posting ugly pics. This is your journal after all and having a record of the good and bad can only help you down the road. Glad you visited my thread so i was able to find you here. Keep up the good work!
