Well a bit different here because mine was known before going into it but I'm 11 days post op total hip replacement. I am 6 to 8 weeks out before I can put full weight on my leg and that isn't even talking about a list of other restrictions.
Like you I have my wife taking care of day to day things along with my children. They are all chipping in to help. Refill top off water, feed sheets of nori, frozen cubes, etc. While my wife supports me and the hobby 100% she isn't a aquarium person so things take a bit more time. So far everyone in the tank is doing great.
Knowing I'm out for a while, a long while, I figured it is a good time to see how it runs without me tinkering with it. In parallel it will give me some time to plan and order a water storage and mixing station and a few other small things that I can work on once I am back on my feet. And one more thing since I have the other hip to be done in 18 or so months I'll be planning a upgrade :)
I'm finding a 30" tall aquarium with a 30" tall stand is a bit much with something who has hip issues. So looking to see what I can change in the future should the upgrade fairy visit me.
Fully understand your situation - make the best of it and hang in there!!!!! Oh, and hope you are feeling better!!!!!
