I'm starting to see aphasia an I want to nip it in the bud early. What advise would you offer about a file fish?

Some are coral nippers and some can be finicky with feeding

I just ordered two from biota. We will see how they do. irritating aptasia popping up while tank is in fallow period. Luckily 25 more days and I can add fish back in.

Advice... Don't do it. I wound up moving mine to a predator tank where his personality and behavior was much more inline with his tankmates. Mine likes Cleaner Shrimp and many other expensive snacks much better than Aiptasia.

What kind of filefish did you purchase?

Have not made the purchase yet so can't tell what the lfs will have. I do use ap x an I keep it under control but I'm starting to see a few in spots I CANNOT reach. This is the reason im pondering a purchase.

Mine won't touch aiptasia...but does go after the LPS in the tank.

There are better ways of controlling aiptasia that don't involve sneak attacks on your coral. I do like mine, but I personally think that there are better options for filefish, as well.

I had about 1000 Aips in my 180 gal. File fish ate them all......then proceeded to eat all of my coral. I had mostly LPS. Once all the Aips and coral were gone, I took him back to the store and within a couple months all the Aips were back. None of the coral came back though.
