So my question is this. I've had this duncan for a few months now. It has tripled in size since I bought it but I don't see any signs of it splitting or anything. Do you think it will stay 1 large head or should it eventually split?

Yours looks to have alot more base skeleton than mine does. Mine seems to have very little base for anything to grow more out of.
I noticed that. I get my coral from a local guy and he always cuts his duncans with a lot of the stalk attached. Yours may have to grow up more before it grows out, but that's only an assumption as this is my first duncan and the babies are still babies.

Duncans grow "babies" usually below or to the side of the "main" head in the beginning. It will take time for there to be enough room for the new growth to appear. Growth is usually slow at first, and picks up as more and more heads develop.

Now there is only one duncan coral, but there are distinct differences in the way some of them grow. Some branch out and spread apart much more than others. It appears this is from where they are collected from. Check out the gallery aquatica video below. They talk about it in the minute or so.
