What are the important factors in using a specific carrier for shipping. this is just a general discussion not aim at anyone in particular. Just want to understand the standards. My reason for asking is I'm pretty confused as to why some vendors will need a certain shipper to be able to garentee live coral. Example, If a person packs a shipment correctly and ships the package, Does one company do much more then the other in reference to delivering the package. is it because some carries have heated planes or have insulated trucks or handle the package better then the others. Because every carrier that comes to my house rings my bell once and drops(not place the package on the floor) the package and goes on his way. So i don't think better handling should be the issue.. To me what's important is
1st, that the package is packed correctly
2nd, that the package arrive on time.
Any package to me that arrives by 12:00 noon should be fine if taken or picked up in the late afternoon hour's.
I don't understand why someone can garentee ups or FedEx when the package gets there before 12:00 but not USPS Express Mail if they get here at the same time. Personally the worst experience I've had with losing corals have been with FedEx. To me ups has the most accurate tracking and i have not experience so much lying as with FedEx when ever they mess up.
I know theres no real tracking with USPS, But if someone would like there corals shipped so they could save a few bucks on this getting out of control pricing hobby, I think the least that can be done is let the buyer select USPS if they like and set some standards that the corals have to arrive by 12:00 noon and only if your in a 12:00 delivery time zone. Due to no real tracking the receiver must notify the sender that package arrived with picture within the hour of delivery to prove delivery time. If USPS is giving good service within the US, why should a person pay (Example) 60.00 when they can get similar service at half the price.
And one last note, i know i mention this getting out of control pricing hobby, I know that no one has a gun to your head to buy so yes if you pay the price it's on you, but lets try and help save with at least the shipping.
Look at vendors Like WWC (Victor), They have Free shipping on orders over 300.00 dollars and incredible customer service just to name one.

Thanks for your time and please chime in. please lets keep this civil. No exposing direct Site(Vendors) you have had problems with. lets just try to find a medium to help support this sites vendors and get a little giveback in return.

I thank a lot of vendors use one carrier to get the high Valium discount

I personal use UPS just because Thea or the only one that has a close
store to drop of at. And i have never had a problem with them.

WWC is fast becoming my #1 on-line vendor with the free shipping and nice coral
good customer service. I just Waite until i can put together a 300 order.

I dont mind USPS for coral that will usual survive a extra
day if Thea dont make on time delivery
