Question for y’all, and sorry if this is a nooby question.

How do you guys go about getting proper flow with euphyllia dominated tanks? My corals look pretty good and happy with lower random flow. However, the issue is detritus, nuisance algae, etc accumulating on sand bed/rocks due to the lower flow required by these corals.

Any insight on how to handle getitng flow right and balancing these different priorities?

Appreciate it guys- any experience or anecdotes help a lot.

Charlie

I have a tunze turbelle aimed at a point on the surface, 1/3 way down the tank length. The tunze is on for 5 seconds then off for 5. This creates an undulating motion.
Less motion as you get further from tbe pump.

Same issue in my tank, my setup is to just turn up the mp10 after lights are out. They aren't puffed up and long so seems like a best time. I just turn it back down before morning feeding.

I have Vortech MP powerhead set on lagoon mode with 50% flow, but now and then I apply 10-15 min "storm mode" when they are on max flow. It stirs everything up. If your pumps are not controllable, you can add powerhead(s) focussed on tank bottom, you can also set them on timer.
Corals will tolerate short burst of current.
