Getting started in reefing - What's the best sized aquarium for a beginner?

I just started a reef tank this year. Honestly,everyone told me to go as big as possible but looking at costs I settled on a 40b. It fits in my house and it's not hard to maintain in my opinion. I feel like it's a good size for beginners.
