I installed a GFO reactor. I initially ran the return through a sock to get any particles. Should I leave it on the overflow side, skimmer section, or straight to the return section of my sump?

I have mine drawing water from the overflow side and discharging in the next chamber over of a 3 chamber sump. I didn't want it discharging in the return section since I didn't have the filter like you had and needed to collect the GFO particulate and vacuum it out occasionally without it going back to the tank. With your filter sock, you could discharge into the return chamber.
