I have a KH director and 2.1 doser that have been sitting on a shelf for a couple of years that I would like to put on a frag tank to monitor Alkalinity.
I changed the router out in my house since it was last online and now I cannot seem to get it reconnected.
It seems as though there is a firmware change that I was supposed to have done that I failed to do in time
I've tried using a Chromebook and a MacBook to update it but neither will connect.
I read somewhere that I need a windows computer so I dug one out an old one and got online but aquariumcomputer.com says that there are no downloads available yet.

Can anyone help me out with this?
It was working well in the past until I switched to a Trident system and parked it
I hate to throw it away just because the software is wonky.

I assume your doser 2.1 is a SA unit from past operation. Since you had it working previously, resetting the wifi may be all that's required to use again. Connect with USB and you can change the wifi settings via GCC.

Yes you need a windows PC / Laptop to do firmware updates currently. The firmware will be included the GCC download, https://www.aquariumcomputer.com/downloads/ghl-control-center-1-1-5-3/ . If it's SA doser, you must update as SA doser. Again, manually connect with USB, follow the firmware upgrade guide in the GCC folder install.

If the KHD has been sitting (especially dry) for a long time, the PH probe most likely has to be at least reconditioned properly, or replaced. It is not an off the shelf probe, replacements worth anything are only available through GHL.

You can recondition probes with solutions like the ones Hanna sells, or 0.1M HCL. Giving it a proper cleaning, then reconditioning would be what I would do first (and what I will do when I re-online my second KHD shortly).

Hanna products I use with all my GHL PH probes:

HI700601P - General Purpose Cleaning Solution Sachets (when you crack a bottle the expiry timer starts, the satchets are single use and for a home user much cheaper long term)
HI70300L - Electrode Storage Solution (to recondition, unfortunately only sold in bottles, no satchets).

Good luck with returning your KHD to operation. I would also check the heads on your doser used for the sample / waste lines (typically #1, #3). They will wear quite quickly from KHD use, and should at least be cleaned if not the internals replaced (roller / tubing).

Just my experience with GHL and Mac. There is firmware’s and wifi firmware to update:

Out of the two the WIFI Firmware is the critical one to upgrade and I was able to do it with my iPhone.

For the firmware you need windows machine and I have not updated it for years.

If you go on GHL support site they have articles and video that show how to perform WIFI firmware update.

Good luck,
