For the P4 within the manual it says for a GHL control pad.

What I am thinking and I am going to tag @Vinny@GHLUSA and @Marco@GHLUSA that this a feature to maybe have another GHL control pad extended off the unit or maybe a connection for support? Just guessing thou.

The PAD port will be used for an upcoming accessory which will give users another way to control their device using a display screen.
More details on that soon. ;)
