Jeez, what did I do, this thing is louuud, and I have 3 tanks durso style, the style you guys love to hate. I wouldn't say plumbing is my strong suit, but my other 3 tanks are quite.

Its a 40 breeder with a 20 long sump, eheim compact plus 3000 dialed all the way down which would be 396 gph and going through a check valve. It's the glass holes 700 with a 3/4" return.

I've diddled around as best I know how. Should I have reduced the overflow from 1.5" down to something else, would this help. I did put a downpipe below the water level in the sump.

Any tips and tricks others have found with this type of build. Thanks

doesn’t sound like you did anything wrong. ;)

they’re just noisy. mess with the vent tube a little (up and down). they also sell small pieces of enkamat to put in the top of the box itself. yeah, they’re noisy but it might quiet down as a slime coat develops on the acrylic. maybe.

Luckily this tank is in my fish room, I'll see if I can get used to it. I had read so many good reviews and discussions about Glass Holes I thought it would be a good bet for me. I had the tanks laying around, using the 40b as a qt, and still have tanks for qt if needed. I guess I just wasn't expecting such a racket.

I am running 4 1500 boxes on different tanks and a pair of 700's on a 65 gallon tank. They do quiet considerably when they get slimed up. The enkamat not only helps the noise, it keeps jumpers out of the box.

they’re easy to setup. that’s the positive.
