first attempt at a glass overflow box. Just gotta wait a couple of days to cure . Would have purchased a custom sized acrylic box. but figured I'd give it a shot with scrap glass . Hopefully I'll get some great surface skimming. These strainers should be easily removable for cleaning. 8Lx4Hx3D

I made one a couple months back with 1/4 glass. It's 20" l x 4"w x 5"h. It works great. Just plan on making a little screen for it or some type of weir. I used eggcrate and set it over top, but I still had a clown fight his way in there.

Aside from that it's been fantastic. You're definitely right about the great surface skimming.

Yeah, placement is just a little odd. I've been meaning to ziptie little legs on it, or something. I'm not very happy with it not being fastened to anything, but it works pretty well until I can come up with an alternative.

Attached overflow only to realize I may have placed it way too high. Instead of keeping the top right at the trim level I have it about a 1/4 inch from the top. I had done such a great job with the silicone .

lol I just realized I still have yet to do a test run . Waiting 24 hours for silicone to cure then I can see how it performs . If it is water tight I will have a significant reduction in how much water flow me back to sump when pump is turned off

Doh;Facepalm water level in DT dangerously high in DT during test run. Otherwise the herbie siphon was working beautifully . 2 3/4 in drains with one 1/2 in return. Will have to scrape off silicone and mount lower:(
