I’m going from a 40 gal to 80 gal reef with fish . Trying to pick out lighting but really on a budget $1000 lights are out of the question. Looking to spend more around $200 to $300. I have softies and fish . More I read about lights , more I’m confused . I am very new to this . Was looking at these . What do you think , or better suggestions.

I would consider ocean revive lights. I have them and they work really well and are not too expensive at 179. I know people who have used those mars lights before and have had success.

So here’s my issue . Opening on both is 8x15. Looked at revive , of course bigger than hole . If light would pass through acrylic ...

Mars Aqua unit that you listed above is good no nonses one. A lot of people used them without issues. Look into Viparspectra 165W unit as well. Very similar to MA, but it has timers.

While some lights do come with mounting brackets, you wouldnt be able to use them due to the brace on the top. I had same issue with my tank, and built a mount out of aluminum square tubing.

Some ideas on what that would look like: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2622878
