Did you end up getting one? Mine is on the way and just wondering how the first few days went for you.

No ended up deciding to wait for a larger tank but do still want one heard they are great though in tanks due to their small mouths most fish are too big but watch out for you crustys and smaller critters theyre toast

I bought an eel knowing the inverts would probably be toast. May sound cruel but that's ok with me, I like the eel more and he's not even here.

So here is a picture from the first day. He came out a few times the first day but I haven’t caught him out since. Not too worried about it, I assumed he would hide for a bit. I skipped feedings last night, hoping when I do tonight the smell will entice him to pop his head out. Also, he chose the same rock that my pistol shrimp hangs out in and unusually I haven’t heard my pistol shrimp pop in the last day or so. Wondering if he fell victim to the eel.

He probably ate the shrimp lol and ya hell be shy for up to 2 weeks before hes out an about some are lucky and see em in under a week if you have time feeding him off chopsticks or kabob stick will tame him a good bit and get him used to you being in close proximity thus hell become more comfortable being out

I have seen him a couple of times but it’s usually just late in the evening. He has eaten a little twice and seems to be settling in. Biggest problem with feeding is spotting his tiny head and figuring out where he’s hanging out at the moment. I took this video a couple days ago when he temporarily kicked my gobies out their home. Later he went back to his own rock and let them back in.

Just acclimating thats normal gobies will probably cruz with him once they get used to him ive observed that in tidepools gobies blennys and smaller eels all together its a trip

That's good to know, thanks. The first time it happened I felt bad for them. They looked so lost with him in their home, they weren't sure where to go.

I’ve had a golden dwarf in my reef for over a year now and he’s a wonderful tank mate. I have 2 skunk cleaner shrimp in there with him for the year, never an issue. I’ve seen the shrimps go in his cave and try and steal his silversides too lol.... Eel is a model citizen. He eats a silverside every 4 to 5 days....
