Good evening, I just bought a hammer coral and was wondering if it was normal to see the ‘skeleton’ while it is moving in the tank.

I had it in a medium flow area when I first put it in the tank but thought it wasn’t retracting fully. I just moved it over a couple inches, and while it looks to be extending more. Now I can see its Skeleton.

Is the flow not enough? I also posted a pic of what it looked like in the high flow when it wasn’t retracted. What do you guys think

Mine looked similar immediately after tank transfer. About 2-3 days later couldn’t see it at all. If I pick it up or make it mad, it retracts and can see it. But, mine is healthy and splitting. From what I can see, no cause for immediate action. Just monitor and if starts to look worse, lower flow.

Wow that’s beautiful! Just spent a pretty penny on this one so I don’t want anything to happen to it.
Well then I won’t mess with mine at all then. Don’t want to Make it angry. When I see pics the hammers (like yours) they look so full. I couldnt find anything that talked about seeing the skeleton in between the polyps.
