I just picked up a Golden Heart trigger today and absolutely love it! He's about 8" or so, so probably the 2nd largest fish in my system besides my 10" vlamingi tang. I would love to hear your experiences and best practices with them. I have a Niger trigger and a few other tangs as well in this tank.

Thanks! It is my favorite Trigger by far right now. I'm still trying to find a male crosshatch though. I found mine at nyaquatics.com, but i think violets aquarium has one right now too.

He is pretty skinny, and isnt eating well right now, so I am trying to get that worked out too.

I would be concerned of internal parasites, there is a history there with your source and those are the signs.

Not sure about parasites, but he has started eating more today. Ate almost an entire shrimp and some Nori. I think the lack of eating may have been stress from shipping and acclimating to the new tank. But I will treat with general cure and focus just in case.

Beautiful fish, one of these has always been on my "to get" list but if that is 8" then I need to update my profile.
Assuming that your bottom glass is 3/4" (I have no idea) then that fish is at most 6".
As for eating, it is probably just adjusting to its new environment. Can you get a pic under white lights?

It half inch acrylic lol but I took him out of the bag with my hand and he was as big as my hand. So probably closer to 7-7.5” than 8”. The ad for him said 8-10”.

So I don’t think he’s going to make it. Stopped eating a few days ago and won’t leave his hiding spot.

I did. I did food soaked in general cure and focus for over a week and then he passed today.
