Good morning all

I have had my golden puffer for 4 weeks. All quarantined and everything. I noticed these hitchhiker looking things around it's mouth and left eye. He ate his usual 5 clams this morning

Any idea and treatment possible.

Also are there any other fish with similar symptoms? BTW - what do you mean by 'quarantined'? Did you use copper or Prazipro

I can't see that video - can you post it to. YouTube and then a link? It looks like a crustacean of some type.

Both. I got him from MarineCollectors
Did you do treatment on top of what Elliot already does?

You should reach out to him directly as he will be the best to diagnose. I get my fish from him and his QT/Conditioning and facility are top notch

Leave a voicemail and include Natalia his office assistant as he in and out of the office each day sourcing.

Just not clear enough for a firm ID. Probably leeches though. Copepods would be possible, but unlikely.

Do they have eyespots?
Can you see if they have legs?
Are they attached just by the head or by head and tail?

The weird thing to me is if they hitchhiked into your tank, how could they show up all at once? Have they been there a while and they gradually grew larger?

The typical treatment for large ectoparasites is 150 ppm formalin with good aeration in a bucket for 45 minutes. If that doesn’t knock them off, you can try again a few days later at 167 ppm for one hour. Formalin is tough to source and toxic to people. You could try a 7 minute freshwater dip first to see if that works.

Ouch- these appear to be flatworms or leeches and they either came in with your fish or exist in your tank.
Could they have come in with the clams you are feeding - Its possible.
PraziPro should have affect on them but hard to say to what extent

I was thinking the clams but I usually freeze the clams for 72 hours before feeding. I'm going to do a stronger formalin bath on Sunday when it comes in. I have read 1ml per gallon, is that correct?

It is eating as well. Only fish to have them and yes they appeared at once.

That's your problem right there. Complete waste of money on a lousy business as evidenced by the poor condition of the fish they provided you.
Never had any issues with the other fishes I have ordered from him. Sorry if you had problems.
