I'm going to do a reef deep for this goni that I received or should I leave it?
UPS was delayed in shipping it. Unfortunately it probably won't be a covered purchase :(. It was supposed to be received earlier today.

It's in pretty bad shape. On the other side are pieces of tissue just drooping off. It's painful to watch. :confused:

I would say place it in low light with low flow and cross your fingers. Also maybe try a few feedings with a fine coral food like reef roids or reef chili. Best of luck!

It's placed in a corner all by it's lonesome. I figured that would be best for its placement currently. I appreciate the reply. I hope Poseidon deems me worthy of seeing it live. :rolleyes:

Poor guy.If you can find a way to protect it from hermits that will help too.I also like to add the product Fuel after new additions for the vitamin C and amino acid boost.

thats in bad shape but it is not gone yet you could try a dip however it may respond negatively and be dead in the morning I personally recommend low flow with low lighting to start maybe fan it gently once or twice a day for a 2-3 days tops maybe try a small feeding other then that best of luck my friend

Fortunately I don't have many of them. I'll keep looking after it. I do have vit c and amino acids that I've added.

I'll hold off on SeaChem's reef dip then.

The good news is that what is left of it has opened. So all is not lost.

The biggest thing that hurt my injured goni was amphipods after dark. Wait a few hours after lights out and make sure there aren't any amphipods chowing down on damaged tissue. My theory was they ate the damaged tissue which irritated healthy tissue and just led to more tissue death. I placed mine on a suspended frag rack for about a month to let it heal and then I was able to put it back on the rocks. They heal, just very slowly.

Iodine dips may help to ward off infection.

Update! and not a good one.

I spotted brown jelly early this morning. * NOOOOOOOO* I took it out and proceeded with a hydrogen peroxide dip, followed by an iodine dip. I tried to squirt and brush off as much as the infection I could. In all honesty, I don't think it's going to survive. My biggest concern right now is will the infection spread to my other corals. I'm tempted to throw it out. I did get in contact with the vendor that I bought it from, and they are going to replace it my next order.
Thoughts on further dips? Do I consider it a full loss?

Personally, I've never found BJD to be contagious to otherwise healthy corals.

Good news.

The goni has not lost any more tissue. The peroxide dip + iodine dip seemed to help the battle against the brown jelly infection as there is zero indication of it left. I'm extremely thankful for that. However, it needs to heal and hopefully it recovers in due time. Sadly, it looks so pathetic. What tissue remained had some opened polyps this morning.

I found the hp really effective against the brown especially. Only works on the dead stuff . Good to see it has some life left in it. I still get problematic gonis evan with advancements in foods seem to be prone to infection. Especially gonis with bore holes in them. I wont buy one these days if the underside looks like swiss cheese.
