Hey guys,
Long story short - I received some dying coral in the mail last week that started infecting other pieces. All of my gonis have since retracted and haven't been the same since /:

I'm worried for my goni of 5 months. Its polyp extension has significantly declined the last 3 days. Most of the polyps are opening, but there are two areas about an inch across that refuse to open and are showing exposed skeleton around the perimeter of the polyps. Technically no polyps have died yet, just the surrounding parts. Detritus is also collecting between polyps which never happened before.

I've been feeding roids every day which seems to help. Did one iodine dip 2 days ago and 20% water change. Blocked from direct light. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ca: 420
Alk: 9.5
NO3: 50
PO4: 0.25
Salinity: 1.023
160 gallon
Reef Octopus skimmer
About 1 sq foot of chaeto in the fuge
Running 4 cups carbon

After - note exposed skeleton near bottom left and surrounding closed polyps

No quarantine system. I did an iodine dip. I'm wondering if I should try Revive or Coral RX as well?

Try moving it around, gonis are pretty but can be very challenging to keep. I had a big colony for about a year, had been always happy and fluffy. Changed to a bigger system and was never the same, slowly receded and died :(

I wouldn't try to feed it in it’s stressed out condition and if you have skeletal sections showing the food can simulate algae grown on it which will further complicate the recovery process.. If you have detritus settling on it you need to increase flow a little.

7 Day Update
Looks like it has white band disease / STN (slow tissue necrosis). A few polyps came clean off from white skeleton. Appears widespread but progressing slowly. Did a melafix dip (10ml/L, 5 min) then Brightwell restore soak (12ml/L, 5 min) yesterday, and a lugols dip (2%, 20 drops/L, 7 min) four days ago, but seeing as STN is caused by Vibrio bacteria it may be impossible to treat. For now she's still eating but it seems I'm only prolonging the inevitable.

Here's some things I was going to try after reading up on the forum.

1) Dose Triton manganese alongside Iron - essential for goniopora apparently
2) Dip in Dr. Tim's Eco Balance to introduce beneficial bacteria that may outcompete Vibrio
3) Purchase a UV Sterilizer (maybe) to get rid of an ongoing Dinoflagellates problem, although this may not directly be affecting the goni
4) Continue reducing nitrates (currently at 25), running carbon, feeding daily

Feed it Oyster Feast! And dose Fuel by AquaVitro. Get your salinity a bit higher (1.025) and your DKh is a bit higher than mine but I’m not sure if that matters.

Yup! It loves roids / coral frenzy. Just tried goniopower and oyster feast too. It responds to the daily feedings, I love this beauty too much to give up. The problem is it has a bacterial infection I can't seem to stop with my dips.

I would also recommend not doing anything else to it at all, it will make it or it won’t but you are definitely stressing it out by moving it around and taking it out of the water, etc...
