Goni Not doing fine

Do you guys know what is happening to that goniopora? It was doing fine as you can see in the other picture. Recently, i have done a water change and cleaned excess algae that built at my corals.

Nitrate 0.25
Phosphate 0
Temp at 80°F

0 phosphates are not good, your coral need phosphate to survive and grow and you are also potentially opening the door to dinos and other issues.

Well, it’s a bit retracted so it seems grumpy. Your nutrients are pretty low and gonis tend to like more nutrient rich water. I might start there.

I would say your nitrates and phosphates both need to come up. They also like iron and manganese.

A few thoughts:

• Nitrate/Phosphate seem low. Coral need nutrients to thrive.
• Temperature is a bit high. I would bring it down to about 78.
• You probably want to start dosing Manganese to help keep goni happy.
• If all else fails, dipping goni with iodine can help prevent bacterial infections

If it was fine before then it’s probably still fine. Goni hate change, being moved, annoyed by the littlest things.

I have 25 Goni and they almost never all are open same time. I have some that will stay closed for weeks then open as if nothing happened. Just give it time to realize it’s safe to come out

Yeah... i am having trouble with too low nutrients. I removed purigen and turned skimmer off. Nitrates was zero. Now it's 0.25. How can i raise both fast?

Feed fish a few extra times
Buy neonitro and neophos and keep on hand to dose if needed

Here’s most of mine right now. A few random ones closed for unknown reasons but they were fine a few days ago and in a day or two they will be open and some other random ones will be closed

They get upset if I clean the glass. Or if I look at them the wrong way.

I forgot one thing. My temp is at 80 because i leave in brazil, so it's very hot. Without my coolers, temp constantly reach 86. Should i program my coolers to cool down to minus then 80?

temp is fine. parameters look ok. My guess is flow. Goni's can be very picky with either too much or too little. I have several and occasionally they get grumpy. If it continues, i usually try moving them to either more or less flow depending on where they were

I wish I could help. I have had 5 gonis and they all did fine for 6 months then just closed up and died in a week. I have high nutrients gave them plenty of flow and light and they still croaked. I grow sps np and all my other lps and softies doing great just gonis a no go. It's a shame too cuz I really like them

All that algae is toxic to corals. Regardless of what your test kits read, you need to use the “eye” test. Clean the aquarium, blow the rocks, scrub with a toothbrush and do a WC.

Medium flow, assure nutrient levels are stable. Add aminos and even manganese occasionally which perks up

Yes. I always do this. I scrub very strongly but that algae still remains there. Only the excess go out. It was worse before

And i don't know how, but coralline grows like crazy in that tank
