I have had this massive ball of the common green goni for a few months now. I keep it sitting on the sand under fairly high flow. When I first got it I did not know alk and calcium were way off with how I was dosing but a few weeks ago I realized my mistake and fixed it. It immediately started doing better. Polyps extending further, color shows much stronger, and it waves in the flow much stronger. After only a couple weeks it is budding off. There is a small chunk of about 8 polyps sitting in the sand a foot or so away. I have checked the original coral and nothing broke off. This piece just appeared within the last few hours.
According to the internet goni do bud off but it is very rare. The new one is under an overhang in very low light but seems happy It is also big enough it should be fine to leave there. Will keep an eye out in case an urchin picks it up but other wise is there something I don't know about caring for this new one since they are so much smaller?
