Hey everyone, I am recently jumping back into the hobby after about a 10 year hiatus. I was curious if this would be a good placement for my goniopora? I had it on the sand bed two days ago and moved it up some. Are the long tentacles a sign of it wanting more light? I have an AI prime 16 and AI nero 3. It seems like it has good flow but curious about placement.

Maybe I should t have grabbed an LPS this early but I couldn’t help it. I’ve heard they can randomly pass. I’ve been spot feeding reef roids twice a week and it seems like it’s happy?

Anything helps! I was also curious if. I may need to move my mushroom? The one side that has a bit more shade seems to have lost a little bit off color.

If needed I can upload more photos with less blue light.

The advise for this coral is all over the map. High light low light high flow low flow dose manganese don’t dose manganese feed it don’t feed it, Etc…….

What size tank is it for an AI Prime? I keep mine under metal halides under bright light and high flow. That’s me but like I mentioned I’m sure others have success in low light low flow.

To me yours looks fine, I would suggest to give it time to acclimate to your tank and see how it reacts after a few days. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies! First post lol, it seemed happy on the sand bed as well.

It’s a 20 gal waterbox my buddy gave me for helping him move his 70 gal. I may see if her has a par meter but currently I am just running the saxby preset from AI as is. I saw a few videos from BRStv and some suggestions, but everything seems pretty happy at the moment.

As far as the mushroom it’s a bit more yellow/brownish from two weeks ago if anyone has advice!

The placement looks ok to me. Is that a chalice right below it?
It’s a mushroom, it was a bit more orange when I first got it

Sweet, I think the main reason I moved it was the tentacles were a bit thinner at the top and chunkier at the bottom, it seems more uniform now although still a few long ones. In a few days should I try adjusting it or just leave it be if it looks happy

I’m wondering if I should just move the mushroom as it may be a problem down the road or should it shy away from that area?
Generally you don’t want things touching unless they are the same type of coral. Some different corals can touch with no issues but it’s all trial and error. I would probably move it if you have the space.

Edit: move the mushroom, not the goni.

Resist the urge to move it. Give it some time to adjust. I

It looks fine so I would leave it for a couple weeks and let it adjust to your system.
