Hi there

I recently turned the flow off in the tank to feed a few meaty corals as the lights were going down and I noticed my largest Goni colonies had some white...substance coming off of it. I've only ever had Goniopora reproduce via budding so this would be completely new to me - I've never had any coral spawn in the tank.

I'm attaching some pictures and a short clip here. Really not sure what this could be but I'd be really excited to have a spawning event in the tank!

bumping this - really curious what people think!

Hey. I’ve had some corals do this, at least what research and most users have mentioned on other threads is it:

1. Releasing waste (likely but most likely not the case)

2. Releasing Zooanthalae (algae that produces the colors in corals) which is likely this is taking place

How long do you run your lights? Where is the placement of this coral? PAR readings? Moved the coral recently?

Congratulations, you're a grandparent! (Potentially; idk whether Gonis are hermaphrodites or not, or if they brood their planulae)

Waste and zoox expulsion is more stringy and brown in coloration.
