Hi all! I've attached some pics of my Goni.
I've had it for about 2 weeks now and its been great! Its normally open during the day and closed up tight at night - really small so I know what that looks like.

But today i looked over and thought it was going to pop! Not sure what was going on - but it was huuuuge! (See pic) A few hours later it went back to normal (see other pic).
I dont have any of it fully closed - but it is much smaller than that overnight.

Can anyone give me insight to whats happening here? Is it okay lol?!

Please don't mind the algae - this is a newer tank and I just had a huge bloom last week and I'm doing some slow maintenance.

Does anyone know why it does this?

I've 2 gonis.
At night they are retracted, much like pic 1.
Daytime they extend, even more than pic 2.
The ora red extends 2 inch stalks.
The toxic green, 4 or 5 inches.
In flow, they extend more.

Hmm! See this is the thing. Because pic 1 isn't retracted - overnight when it retracts its way way smaller. This is like it extended, and then swole up to the extent of the stalks if that makes sense?!
