My Torch closed up!

Man, I got a torch a week ago. The flesh band was a little thinner than I'd like at about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Still, it looked fair upon arrival and got better looking day by day. That made me feel better, but to be honest the polyp extension is a fraction of my other ones....though when I got those they too looked similar to this one). I felt confident that it would get healthy and thrive in time.

Then last night for some reason I decided to spot feed it (Gonipower and some brine shrimp). Today, it was half it's original expansion (which compared to my other torches is mediocre to begin with) and actually got more contracted over the day.

I don't see any bugs, no brown jelly, and it in the same location as 3 other torches I've had for 2 years and are growing like crazy. I'm confident the placement is good for it (though come to think of it, it might be higher PAR than what the other guy had it in).

Anyway, I guess I'm just venting. I don't think there is anything I can do but wait and see. Man I hope it perks up, its a beauty!

First two pics were yesterday (see the other torches behind it thriving :)). Last pic was today and to be honest it closed even more after I took that pic.

could be from feeding. Or adjusting to your flow. That type of torch does better in low to medium flow

I’d move it away from the other torch. In my experience, they can fight.

I believe it may be due to the feed as well. Possibly a food-poisoning reaction or a resulting bacterial infection, I would suggest changing your feeds. Try feeding some of the same feed items to some copepods in an external test container at room temperature if you have them on hand. If the copepods die in a day's time, then I would suspect the feed has deleterious bacteria and should be avoided in the future.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I almost never feed the torches. I think i did early on but I haven't in months if not a year or more. Not sure why I even did it last night but I wont be doing it again!

As for proximity, I did worry it might not get along with the others so its high enough none of the others tentacles touch it. It's hard to see that from the angle I took the picture. I figured once it was bigger and healthy I might try and see how they reacted with each other.

For flow, it gets pretty medium flow. Most of the flow is on the other side of the tank and up high for the SPS. That side of the tank is mostly LPS. It definitely isn't getting blasted and for sure the flow hasn't changed in the past 24 hours....

oh wait, it did. I realized this morning I had forgot to turn 2 of the powerheads back on after spot feeding. I doubt that was it, but who knows at this point.
