Goniopora, red one

I have a "normal" Goniopora, brown_green. Expanding and very healthy, also good growth rate. But the red one I last tried didnt manage. I have just purchased a new red one, that maybe will work, but its too early to say.
What is your experience concerning the differences between these, when coming to requirements etc?

The requirements are all the same. The issue/difference is lineage. I have 25+ goni and I believe the biggest influence on a gonis survival is the history of the goni before your purchase. Wild caught vs maricultured vs tank raised / fragged. The species and how many generations it’s been in captive settings.

That said, one of the most durable is the ORA Red

Per Vintages input. I never buy a goni that's not aquacultured. For alvies they don't need to be aguacultured.

Thanks for input. Seems my red Goni will not make it. Is not expand the polyps at all. One week old now.

If it still has color I never think all is lost. I would try moving it to more or less flow and more or less light, but a move seems to be in order to see if it likes a different spot more.

I bought two frags, one pink and one blue. I placed them at opposite sides of the tank. Flow and light (depth, distance from center, lack of shade) were similar, I thought. The pink one opened within a day or so. The blue one was still closed tight after day 4. I did a flow "bubble audit" of the two locations and it turns out that eddy currents created by my rock work made them surprisingly different. I moved the blue goni to the same rock ledge that the pink one was on. It made all the difference. Unfortunately for poor Blue, he was now in a high traffic area for hermit crabs, so he gets regularly trampled. The pink one, just inches away, doesn't have this same problem, but both are doing quite well at the moment.
