I have a 29 gal biocube and have a chalk bass and will soon add a yasha goby and pistol shrimp. But the chalk bass never leaves his corner and the yasha and pistol will stay in their cave. I would like to add another fish or two. And I want a fish that likes to dart in and around live rock and corals.the fish needs to be active.what is your favorite active fish?

thanks

wrasses are good active fish; lots to choose from that are pretty and small. Tree I like are: coris, filamentos, McCoskers, all pretty and active.

Yeahi like the wrasses they are definitely a consideration. But I feel if I get into the flasher wrasses I would get obsessed and what to upgrade to a big tank. Which is not possible at the moment.
Could I add a mystery wrasse if those are the only three fish in tank?

A flasher wrasse would probably be ok, I had a midas blenny in a 34g who was always out and about and fun to watch or a pair of clowns would be another good choice.

with the pistol shrimp, that takes out a lot of the smaller active fish as he could popem and eatem. clown gobies are attactive and funny little fish, but small only about a 1" - 1 1/2" , blennies are good active fish, my black blenny is always going threw the rocks from hole to hole, and has one heck of a personality. if you stick your hand in the tank to close to him or one of his holes he bits at ya, doesnt really hurt but kinda makes ya jump when your not ready for it lol.

Most active fish in my tank is my sixline wrass, then it would be my neon dottyback. I think they are both suitable for a tank around 30 gallons, and swim from hole to hole. Dottyback has more personality and will people watch, the sixline just swims around doing his thing but seems to never stop.

I like sixlines but afraid of the possibility of aggression. mccosker right now is probably top and a Midas blenny.
What about dwarf angels if there are last fish added. And coral wise I'm doing lps, zoas, and stuff like that . No sps.

To be honest, my sixline is the least aggressive fish in my tank. Minds his own business swimming around picking at the rocks. I have a coral beauty angel and he doesn't nip at anything, I have sps zoas and a couple lps (I still think it is a gamble). However, he is the meanest fish in my tank and the whole thing is his territory (fought my yellow tang for about two hours when first introduced). Sort of funny though, is the angle and my yellow tang hang out together now, swimming around together taking turns trying to squeeze through holes they can't fit through.

Your Chalk Bass will probably become more active in about a week or less. I put mine in as the 1st fish in the tank, Red Sea Max 130. For the 1st 2 days he stayed in one place only moving out when I fed him. After that he'd explore a little more of the tank each day. After 5 days I think a little light bulb went off in his head that there were no predators and now he swims all over the entire tank. He's even at the surface at feeding time before I can even get my hand in the water. He's learned quickly that pumps off means food. One week later I added a McCoskers and they are getting along fine over the last 2 weeks.
