I just ran out of Crossover diet, and was curious if there was another good food that I should look into. This is the only one I've used since I've had the AFS, and I guess it works well. I have nothing to compare to.

I typically feed twice a week (1 rotation), and have a pretty low bioload. I'll occasionally feed some frozen rods food (no more than once a week or every other week).

Any suggestions?

It really amazes me how many people I've read use autofeeders, but how little opinion there is on what type of food in them. Do most people just manually feed every so often?

I just purchased mine (well, my lady purchased it as a gift for me) less than a week ago. I am using a mix of NLS spectrum pellets in mine:

LG fish 3mm
Algamax 2mm
Thera A 1mm and 3mm
Finiky Fish 1mm

I feed 4x a day, 4 hours apart, with mine and have it set to the second click on the hopper. With 1 rotation per feeding. This puts out a small amount of food for the guys. I have approx 15 fish, and my main goals are for my tangs(8" naso, 9" Mata, 4.5" yellow), anthias( 3" stocky), approx 4.5" Tusk, 6" FoxFace, 4" mono, 5" melanarus wrasse, and 6.5" red corus wrasse to have small amounts of food to munch on all day long. And the food never makes it past 1/4 way in the water. I used the eheim before this, and though it was good, the motor stuck and dumped the complete hopper in the tank.. With the apex, I can control(haven't as of yet) and create an alarm for the device being on..

But that is the combo I am using right now. I think any of the nls pellets would work, along with the formula 2 2mm,as i tried that your also during setup..

I have a lot of food on hand, and keep getting it. For my auto feeder, I really like the Marine Chips by Instant Ocean. They look similar to Fruity Pebbles to me. You can use pellet foods if you prefer. Years ago, I liked both Formula One and Formula Two. Cobalt has some good pellet food as well, both Omni and Veggie based.

I also use Rod's Food for my reef.

Here's my feeding video.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I picked up some New Life Spectrum 1mm, and so far it seems to be a good alternative to CD at a lower price.

I will probably be making another batch of frozen food soon after I run through the Rod's Food pack I picked up a couple weeks ago. I like feeding a variety, but like having a staple that can be fed when I'm away.
