not the knee. It’s likely a sprain and knee buckled from the trauma whereas muscle imbalances may have contributed to the injury. This is not a hospital emergency however may need to be assessed by a clinic.
When you heard pop, the knee buckled inward. Swelling may have occurred immediately. If so- ice and heat rub. Pain bloc available at Walgreens is very good. Then you can ace wrap it or a copper knee brace from Walgreens/Walmart.
To summarize, There are two vertical ligaments which act as side supports to the knee: The lateral collateral ligament, or LCL, which connects the femur to the fibula, and the medial collateral ligament, or MCL, which connects the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (shin bone), and is injured more often. If swelling, again it’s muscle and ice will help.
Take 2-3 ibuprofen every 4 hours if there’s unbearable pain. Recovery is 2-3 weeks for a mild sprain or 6 weeks or more for a tear. Generally, surgery isn’t required for something like this unless it’s a meniscus tear.
Yep - ligaments musclenot the knee.
I've popped both Achilles, and it isn't that either. the pop was mid calf and that's where the pain is. currently have it wrapped with an ace. didn't want to ice/heat and possibly make it worse.
ok, so ice/heat alternate.Yep - ligaments muscle
And heat rub. Ice is for swelling.ok, so ice/heat alternate.
thank you.
