I have a new used tank came drilled with herbie method my tank dimensions is 36x20x18
with a 29 gallon sump diy
i was planning on getting a eheim 1262 for a return pump and a gyre 130, is that too much flow in the tank?

and can anyone recommend a skimmer for me to put in this tank?

TUnze 9001 and the gyre is fine in a tank that size assuming your going for med/high flow. That return pump will also work as well.

Vertex skimmers are top notch. I'm running a Vertex Omega 150 on my 40 gallon, but that's overkill. A Omega 130 would be fine.

I've also had success using Reef Octopus skimmers in various size tanks. RO are affordable for sure.

Im sorry i Messed up the tank size I saw the 29 and forgot that was just the sump. The 9001 is a good skimmer I think it would be sufficient unless you have a large bioload. But you may want to go with something more robust.

There are many good skimmers out there for your size tank, it depends a lot on your budget. I use a DCT4000 for my return pump and I'm very happy with it. It's a lot cheaper than the Ehiem and is controllable. The XF130 should do you well in a tank that size.

I think you'll like it. I put foam under mine as they illustrated on their website to keep it quiet and it works.
