Gorgonian Light

I have a purple gorgonian right in the middle of my tank that opens up at night time only. Once my lights turn on, there are no more PE until the lights go out... is this common for some or is it too much lighting for it? I am running T5's.

This picture was after lights were out, but I turned them on to take the photo.

Strange...appears to be a photosynthetic variety..maybe just acclimation to different lighting...
