Hi,

I purchased a photosynthetic purple brush Gorgonian a few days ago. After being in my tank for 3 days it still hasn’t opened. All my other corals are open and seem fine. The gorgonian is receiving medium light and medium to high flow and there is no obvious algea build up on it. The coral was shipped to me so I don’t know if it was open in the store.
My water parameters are:
Temperature: 27 Degrees Celcius
Salinity: 1.025
pH: 8.2
dKH: 11
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Phosphate: 0.03 ppm
Nitrate: 2 ppm
Calcium: 400
Magnesium: 1250

Maybe someone more experienced with gorgonians has some tips?

Give it some time...if it starts to cover in algae than I would worry but probably just adjusting after a stressful trip...

I have purple gorgonians myself and what I find is that they open up every time I add 1/2 tsp of reef roids mixed in a cup of water. Gorgonians love that stuff.
