Hi everyone,

So I’m pretty sure this is a gorilla crab that has hitchhiked into my tank (live rock bought in Sydney, Australia). I found either his dead body or his moult. Though I don’t want a gorilla crab running lose in my system, the idea of a dead anything freaks me out about my general water chemistry, but every seems okayish at the moment other than my temperatures (up to 30 degrees Celsius- I have finally bit the bullet and shelled out on a chiller, though leaks and troubleshooting these have delayed it from being up and running and I have lost most of my SPS to bleaching in the meantime). My phosphate/nitrates are I guess higher than I like, but unsure how to balance them being low with not encountering dinos again.

Can anyone confirm the ID and tell me their thoughts on whether it is a dead body or a moult. I have it sitting on top of the tank while I work it out and it has no smell, which does lead me to lean towards it being a moult.

Thanks,

Temp 30 degrees
Nitrate 11
Phosphate 0.5
Nitrite/ammonia 0/0
Salinity 35ppm
Alk 7.1
Calcium 440
Magnesium 1350

To me that looks a bit like a Cymo Acro crab, but I'm not an expert on these things! I have a couple of acro crabs in my tank, but they sit right in a few colony's so they are hard to ID.
