Got a microscope - whole new dimensioning opening up

We gave our son a microscope for Xmas. I try to choose presents that are useful for me too.

I still have diatoms (tank is 4 months old), so a smear of those, fresh out of the tank, went under the microscope first.
What would the critter on the second photo be? It was moving (I have a video if anyone is interested).

I'd say the second photo is a Copepodite, a life stage of a copepod. What brand of microscope did your son get?

We got him a Bresser Erudit DLX 40-1000x with the optional Bresser USB MicrOkular. Very happy with it so far.
