Sorry....this is a completely false statement.
We often get offered assistance. Whether it be money, supplies, or boots on the ground.
Our problem is accepting what is given.

We should run the reef forum like the POTUS wants to run our country. We put everyone's equipment, livestock, the whole deal in the pot and then we divide it equally. Doesn't matter if you have $50,000 in your setup and I have $500 invested in mine. Everything should be divided equally because that's just fair. I mean we are all entitled to a nice tank. Then I can come home and throw your favorite fish into my uncycled tank.

I think politicians should vote based on what's right, but that doesn't mean that I should have to share what I have worked hard for with anyone, unless I wish to. MY house, MY car, My guns, MY money - it's all MINE! (and in this case MY fish) Get a job and get your own. Nobody is owed anything, unless they worked for it.

People who think Canada's healthcare system is so great should just move to Canada.

I meant the big picture, you can pick out little bits that are better than current setup. I should have worded that a little better.

and the pre-existing thing is bs. if you wreck your car today and insure it tomorrow, should your insurance pay? no. how is health insurance any different?

not being charged more based on health or gender? that's good? so, if one customer is going to cost you more, why shouldn't you be allowed to charge them more? that's how car insurance works.

wasteful spending is mostly done with medicare/medicaid. oooh.. lets go to the ER for a runny nose, we have medicaid it's okay.. there was a million dollar wheelchair at a small drug store (legit story), the same wheel chair had been sold thousands of times, but was never actually sold.

cost assistance? you mean letting someone else pay for it, like letting me help pay for joe schmo's insurance.. I'd call that theft.

improvement to womens health? you must mean paying for contraceptives, abortions, day after pills, etc. not all women would consider that an improvement. and not everyone would consider that morally right, or even the responsibility of the insurer.

point is, overall, I personally don't believe this bill is good for the nation.

This is good debate. 2 people who are informed and have opinions with supported data. We need more of this.

But the bottom line is THIS IS THE LAW. If you don't like it change it through the proper channels. Shutting down the government is ridiculous. The tea party and anyone who supports not passing a budget based on one law they don't like need to be voted out of office. Pass the budget, raise the dept ceiling, then when the American government is functioning pass your bills, get the votes and change the law. Real Americans are being hurt by their antics and if the dept ceiling debate fails to pass the stock market and anyone with money in it will be crushed by their behavior. There are right ways and wrong ways to do things, shutting down the government is the wrong way period.

But that's what they were voted into office to fight, so voting them out of office for what their constituents want? How does that work?

It's also a law that congress pass a budget every year too, but that hast been done in 5 years now. All they are and have been passing are continuing resolutions. This fight would not be happening if they had done their jobs and passed a budget at the first of the year as required by law. The debt ceiling is another argument all together. There are many reasons that I oppose raising it. Even Obama opposed raising it back in 2006 when he was just a Senator. I believe he stated that "raising the debt ceiling is a failure in leadership" but maybe he just said that because Bush was president at the time....
