Hey guys, got a peppermint shrimp today and my royal gramma started picking at it like crazy. It found a place in the rocks where the gramma won’t reach it though. Is it gonna be like this long term? I used to have a smaller one but he disappeared one day. Could the gramma have actually eaten him ( yes I made sure to get a bigger one this time )

Are you sure its not a bicolor dottyback?

Just ruling out a possibly as this would be expected of them.

Royal Grammas I personally can't say much about but I will say sometimes fish nip at the antennas of shrimp like cleaners, it can get very problematic. My yellow tang used to do it but left every other cleaner alone after.

My gramma will lunge at mine but I have never seen it eat one and it never bothers my sexy shrimp.

Yup, positive it’s a gramma. And I will try feeding more times throughout the day. He gets fed brine shrimp mostly since he’s not much a fan for mysis. Thanks for the advice though

Lunge? So then it’s normal kinda? I just hope he eventually learns to leave the little dude alone. Is there anything you did to make them get along a bit better? Or is it just time?
