Clearly you have not read everyone's experience. Some have them for years.
Key information is how many did they start with.... If your cool with have some losses, go for it, just don't be surprised by the weakness being bullied then killed, then next weakness and cycle continues. These are the true stories.
 
To my understanding this is very bad information that needs to be removed from our hobby, if fact really no fish we can keep in our saltwater tanks will shoal. With Green Chromis, it is like the movie Highlander...their can be only one (unless you have a large tank with lots of broken sightlines became if they see each other, fight is on!)
I heavily disagree every fish is different.
