How old is the tank? Are you using RODI water or tap water?

what do you have for water movement? Hair algae growing on the sand (to me) indicates the flow is too low. How old is the tank? What are the phosphate and nitrate levels?

Vaccum the sand/scrub the rocks with a brush.....if its a fairly new tank, its normal part of an early reef tank. It goes away with maturity and lot patience and elbow grease
Thank you
