I was wondering if anyone can help me out... I bought a new 150 watt de radium bulb from another reefer and when I tried it out in my hqi fixture it gave off an ugly green light. I tried it on another ballast and had the same result. I of course have no receipt and have tried contacting the company that makes them but they say to contact a vendor which hasn't worked out. I have a used radium that works just fine in both of my m. halide fixtures and the bulb is an genuine radium(same printing on it as the old bulb).

I don't believe the other reefer knew the bulb was bad, but either way I can't get ahold of him since he's not on our local forum anymore, plus he lives over 90 mi. away.

Just wondering if anyone(vendors etc) can give me advice on what to do....

Thanks,
doug

Nope cash transaction. Not really his fault he got a bad bulb either. Just looking to see if anyone(vendor) has any contact with the company that makes them and can help me out:) Also, if anyone wants to buy a green radium for $50 let me know;)

LOL on selling it !! Honestly i would think about contacting the radium manufactuer directly and say you got it as a gift but it is not working properly. They might take care of you.

I had a pink Radium last year when I changed my bulbs and I left it in and let it "burn in" and the color did shift to match my other 2 bulbs.

I ran it for about a week or so for about 6-8 hrs a day but it never changed.

Yup^^^^^^ agreed Sara let it burn in and make sure the nipple is up?? It does matter oh wait that's single ended lol... Let it burn in it should shift colors...

A week should be more than enough burn time. I was reading on another site where someone had the same issue with the bulb. The bulb itself was bad. I would just shoot radium an email and claim that it was a gift and therefore don't have a reciept. Worth a shot.

Could have swore that is exactly what i had mentioned but i guess it needed an extra post!!

Sorry guys not gonna fib about where I got it...

Well that is gonna be tough then...no receipt, no idea what store it came from, and manuafacturer wont help you...might as well let it burn some more in the meantime. Have you tried to contact any vendors like Marine Depot, Premium Aquactics, Hello Lights or somewhere that sells them to see if you could swap.

I have contacted the manufacturer but apparently they don't deal with customers directly. Just hoping someone knows a vendor of these bulbs that could help me get credit or a new bulb from either the manufacturer or distributor. Thanks for the input so far, and maybe I'll try and let it burn in some more...

I contacted at least two different vendors to no avail. I guess I should have put off being a nice guy and demanded my money back right away but I had heard that sometimes they take a little while to burn in.... just waited to long to start burning it in I guess:(
