Green wrasse reef safe?

I Have a green wrasse in quarantine and had heard they are sort of reef safe, and help keep pest down.I do currently have 2 cleaner shrimp and 1 blood shrimp, as well as snails and starfish. Was wonder if this might not be the best choice. Any thought or experience on these thanks for any advice.

Green Wrasses can turn aggressive as they get older and mature and can be invert munchers as well. Hence the reason they aren't very highly recommended. Shame too as they are a beautiful fish.

Pretty and decently peaceful as juvies but large, aggressive and U-gly as they mature. Their color gets very drab and unimpressive when they get big. Not a good choice for a peaceful tank...one of the few wrasses that I've seen be aggressive with non wrasses.

I would switch it out for a different cousin, like H. chrysus, melanurus, or biocellatus for reasons mentioned above.

We're all assuming you have Halichoeres chloropterus, by the way.

Ok thanks for all the info, will probably not take the chance and just take it back to LFS for a different one..plus hate to try and get him out of DT so this would be the time ....

Smart move it will be much easier for you to simply pull him from a QT now. Wrasses can be a pain in the butt to catch, especially once they get familiar with their turf.
