The tank is all good and about 6 weeks old

Is this a new tank you are trying to cycle? If so I wouldn't worry much and let nature take its course.

Test for amonia, nitrate, and nitrate...Once your amonia/nitrite is down it might be worthwhile to start introducing fish....

If this stuff really is bugging you try taking a large tooth brush and siphoning it out.

It is micro algae's growing, life is occurring in your tank, all sorts of micro algae's and biofilm and bacteria will eventually cover your rocks. Just because its green doesn't mean its bad, its justthe start of everything.

Shows up in a new tank. No need to do anything, it’s self limiting and goes away after a short period. Mine 3 1/2 years ago
