Greetings,

My name is Andrew and I live in the Netherlands.

I been wanting to get a tank for quite some time.
Finally decided it was time and made an account. I am completely new to this so I will probably make some mistakes.
Especially since everyone thinks their way is the best.

I am going to collect equipment en start up after I go on holiday.

The plan thus far:

- 300L or more. (Been on the fence for a hooded one or not as I have cats. They will jump on the hood I know, but otherwise they might grap dinner or drop hair in the tank.)
- Sump with a refugium
- Triton dosing (probably)
- Sand and live rock (probably)
- Community reef tank with fish and corals. Probably only easy ones at first.
- Protein skimmer, auto feeder, powerheads.
- Apex controller, if possible as it seems heavily concentrated on the US.
- Calcium reactor (Maybe)
- Quarantine tank is a must.
- LED lights.
- Big cleanup crew

I am most likely going to make a build thread and post the choices that I make. Advice is always appreciated.

Welcome to R2R!!! I'm not all new here and I still make mistakes. Focus on water quality, take your time, do your research, and stay connected to this community. We're glad you're here!

Oh, and about those curious cats...

BTW, not my tank.

Welcome!

I am completely new to this so I will probably make some mistakes.

Everyone makes mistakes when they're new. And guess what? The experienced people make them too. They key is patience, research and more patience. Don't act without data.

Big cleanup crew
Your cleanup crew will be as big as your tank, feeding and maintenance routine can accommodate, so it needs to grow slowly as the tank progresses. If you go too big, they will starve and die back to a sustainable level.
