Groves on impeller

I have an Eheim 1262, about a year old, I clean it monthly, somehow I did not put one of the rubber bearings back in and the impeller and pump now have groves in it, can I still use the pump? Any ideas

lightly go over it with emery cloth should clean it up

I'd say yes, but order new impeller, that one could split and freeze in pump in time.

Will the groves inside the pump just cause more groves on the new impeller?

Check and see if the pump side also has similar damages! If the pump size is still nice and smooth then you just need new Propeller. If it has similar damages then you will need new pump soon because it will get noisier and eventually the magnet will get exposed then come the rust.

Bummer! Try to smooth out the grooves but you will need to get a new pump shortly.

Yeah it is a bitter pill to swallow, I have no idea how I could have put the pump together and forgot to put the rubber bushing in, I only done it a few hundred times. The old grey matter ain't what she used to be.

Update, I went to a semi LFS 120 miles round trip and picked up a Simplicity 2100 return pump, the pump was bigger than I thought, it barely fit in my sump, it has more enough power for my 120 DT, I had to throttle down my Eheim 1262. So far happy but bummed.

Even tho you had to gone out of your way! Hopefully it was a good deal. For us here in CA, traveling 120 miles round trip would take at least $50 in gas/tolls and 3-4 hours

I’m running a Simplicity 1600 and a 1000 on my 120 Gallon. Both are Throttled Down. The 1600 has a PVC “Tree” on it to eventually run a UV. The PVC Adapter to the Pump is a BSPT, “British Standard Pipe Threads.” You will need to use the included gasket, that came with the pump. They are available from McMaster-Carr, PVC BSPT x Slip.

I here you and feel you, it was a straight drive zero traffic, no traffic between 10 am and 2PM, no tolls no bridges. Yes gas was 3.60 a gallon at Costco, I could have saved by buying online maybe, MAP prices, I am not sure. But shipping could be a problem, I was absolutely shocked when I got something from Saltwateraquarium in 3 days it normally takes 9 days with paid for better shipping. And I am not in Alaska, Hawaii but like you in Ca. but SoCal.

I did remember to use the gasket. I connected my Eheim 25/34 MM green tubing. It is greatly reducing the flow but my tank cannot handle too much flow, single tube overflow. My in garage, BNIB not wet, 225 will handle lots of flow. I have a Fluval SP4 pump for that.

With the PVC Adapter from Mc Master, you can run Standard Inch Sizes of PVC off of the Pump, instead of the Barb to Hose Adapter that came with the Pump.

Good to know, I will check it out. Less of one and more of another, front to back barb fittings not good.
