Just got in some clean up crew. One of the pep shrimp has this on him. Just a shell defect? Parasite? Don't worry or don't put him in the tank?

Isopod. These live only on cleaner shrimp and don't transfer to other shrimp due to their life cycle requiring conditions that aren't typically found in our tanks. It will eventually drop-off.

I had the same thing on a skunk cleaner and researched it. It eventually fell of and never affected another cleaner or any fish. The research panned-out.

Interesting. Grabbed a couple more pics.
Pretty in depth article

Think he'll just go in the frag tank til its gone after reading that. Doubt it would be a problem, but my luck would have me being the rare person with that type of pod my display. So instead he can be the lonely shrimp in the frag tank.

Also interesting

;Facepalm Well I wish I had read this article last night. All i saw were the ones about doing surgery by cutting a small slit. So i did that...and i think the isopod had already dropped off at some point but the bubble was still there after several molts. Trying to grab the nothingness I killed the shrimp. Also saw another article afterwards where you dont need to cut a slit and can simply reach under the shell. I had just bought a new cleaner shrimp and didnt want him to get infected too. Should have researched more but was freaking out. dang it. $45 and a cool a** cleaner with a great personality down the drain.
