i have had my GSP for 2 weeks and it is not opening but a couple of polyps. When i bought it at the LPS it was open fully. i have it in the middle of my 55 gallon and has good flow.

can someone give me so ideas what to do. i have read to use iodine but i read not to use it.

my levels are:

PH - 8.2
Nitrate -0
Nitrite - 0
Amonia - 0
alk - 8
Phos - 0
Salinity - 1.025
Calcium - 450

Nitrates and trace phosphates are needed

I use GSP's as water indicators

I've also noticed my GSP would stay closed when there was a pest or something on it that was irritating it. You could try taking it out and dipping/scrubbing it.

GSP can be very finicky...have you been moving it around or touching it? any hermits walking on it?

GSP's are actually sensitive to the elements. Online vendors say this is a great beginners coral.. I call bs on that.
These are so sensitive to change, heavy metals, ALK swings.
If your GSP's are not opening and haven't for weeks might as well stop introducing them.
Get a water test done and then you can see the issue.
I don't use them as indicators for nothing ;)

After two weeks I would try a different location within the tank. Make sure no detritus is collecting on it.

HOW MUCH DOES A FISH’S FEEDING REQUIREMENTS AFFECT YOUR STOCKING DECISIONS?
